President Donald Trump’s team has revealed that various cabinet picks facing threats and “swatting” incidents are now the subject of an in-depth investigation.

Swatting is a dangerous hoax where emergency services are misled into sending heavily armed police teams to an untargeted individual’s location. This type of incident, coupled with threats of violence, has raised significant concerns over the safety of individuals serving or set to serve in governmental positions.

The White House released a statement confirming President Joe Biden has also been informed of these incidents and he strongly denounces any form of political violence.

The Department of Justice is reportedly investigating the series of threats. Investigators are focusing on identifying individuals or groups responsible for orchestrating these incidents, which range from direct threats to staged crises.

Public safety officials remind communities of the influential role they can play by providing intelligence that can become instrumental in ongoing investigations.
