GRAPEVINE, Texas – The Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Texas (PACCTX) marked a significant milestone in its history with a grand 15th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center on October 18, 2024. The event brought together over 400 attendees from various regions across Texas to celebrate the chamber’s achievements and contributions to the community.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome message from PACCTX State President Atty. Aileen Ligot Dizon, who expressed her gratitude to the attendees and highlighted the chamber’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Filipino-American community.
The program was expertly emceed by Emmy-Award winner Rose-Ann Aragon and Miss Texas 2022 Averie Bishop, who skillfully guided the audience through the evening’s festivities.
Consul General Gunther Emil Sales of the Philippine Consulate General in Houston shared a special message highlighting the chamber’s vital role in promoting business relationships and cultural connections between the Philippines and Texas. He stated that the chamber’s efforts align closely with their goals in economic diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of strengthening business and professional ties between Texas and the Philippines.
Keynote speaker Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the chamber’s influence on the local economy and its dedication to serving the Filipino-American community. Secretary Nelson’s remarks highlighted the importance of collaboration between businesses and government entities in fostering growth and innovation. She remarked that the entrepreneurial spirit of Filipino communities is visible in all areas of our community, including healthcare, technology, education, and public service.
A notable moment of recognition came when Texas Representative Salman Bhojani presented a Proclamation honoring PACCTX for its 15 years of service. The proclamation was graciously received by Atty. Aileen Ligot Dizon, who expressed gratitude for the support and acknowledgment from local leaders.
The gala showcased representatives from PACCTX’s five regions: the DFW Region, which hosted this year’s event, along with the Greater Houston Region, Rio Grande Valley Region, Greater San Antonio Region, and Greater Austin Region. Each region was well represented, highlighting the unity and diversity within the chamber.
Attendees at the event included the founders, officers, board of directors, and chamber members, all coming together to commemorate the chamber’s anniversary and celebrate the achievements of their peers. Their collective presence underscored the importance of collaboration and support within the community, highlighting the strong network that drives local progress and innovation.
The evening drew a noteworthy attendance of public officials, including Carrollton Mayor Steve Babick, Texas State Representative Kronda Themisch, Denton County Commissioner Kevin Falconer, Carrollton Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Christopher Axberg, Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD Trustee Carolyn Benavides, Assistant City Manager for Carrollton Rex Redden, and Carrollton Council Member Rowena Watters. Their presence underscored the strong support for PACCTX and its mission.
The event not only celebrated the chamber’s anniversary but also honored the exceptional achievements of individuals from various regions of Texas. State winners, selected from the Regional Awardees, were announced during the event.
Another highlight of the evening was the recognition of Honorary Consul Ethel Mercado, who received the Emeritus Chamber Leadership Award for her exceptional leadership and steadfast commitment to PACCTX. As one of the founding members and a former state president, Honorary Consul Mercado’s dedication has been instrumental in shaping the direction and success of the chamber. Her contributions have not only inspired fellow members but have also significantly impacted the community, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
Entertainment throughout the evening included special performances by April Mondragon Castillo, Ner de Leon, and Boy Rose, captivating the audience with their talent and energy. The night continued with an after-party featuring Sir Earl Toon of Kool and the Gang, ensuring that guests enjoyed a lively celebration.
The gala also featured exciting raffle prizes, adding an element of surprise and fun to the festivities.
