Texas Woman Sets Guinness World Record for Widest Tongue
A Texas woman has made headlines by setting a new Guinness World Record for the widest tongue (female). This achievement ends a record that had remained unchallenged for 10 years. Brittany Lacayo, a lawyer from Houston, Texas, has officially secured her spot in the Guinness World Records for having the widest tongue in the world, measuring an impressive 7.9 cm at its widest point. This remarkable measurement is greater than that of a hockey puck and nearly matches the width of a credit card.
According to guinnessworldrecords.com, Lacayo’s tongue is also 2.5 cm wider than the length of an average woman’s tongue, which measures the same 7.9 cm from the tip to the middle of the closed upper lip. This record had stood unchallenged for a decade, with the previous title held by Emily Schlenker, who achieved a tongue width of 7.3 cm as a teenager.
Lacayo, who always knew she had a notably large tongue, recalled how her family would often joke about it during her childhood. However, it wasn’t until her best friend shared a video of Schlenker that Brittany decided to measure her own tongue.
Her initial feelings upon revealing her tongue to others are described as “shock” and “curiosity.” While she hasn’t yet shown it to her colleagues or mentioned her record, she acknowledges that her newfound fame might change that.
In addition to Lacayo’s achievement, another American lawyer, Alexander Capogna, recently set a record for the most push-ups performed from chest to ground in one hour, completing an astounding 1,246 repetitions.
