MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte stated over the weekend that she remains unfazed by a potential impeachment complaint against her. She indicated that she has been expecting this development for some time. Despite this, she voiced strong concerns over what she described as ”political harassment” directed at her family.

In her remarks, Duterte pointed out the allegations surrounding her brother, Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte, and her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio. She characterized these accusations as part of a larger campaign against her family.

Duterte explained that as a political figure, she understands the nature of these challenges. She believes it is a strategy being utilized by opponents to undermine her and her family’s reputation. She maintained that she intends to continue her work without being distracted by what she considers unfounded claims.

The Vice President’s comments come amid ongoing political discussions in the country. Speculation regarding impeachment moves against her has intensified in recent weeks, mainly from some sectors critical of the current administration. Duterte, however, does not appear alarmed by the prospect.

In addressing the situation, she emphasized her commitment to serving in her official capacity. She stated that she will not be intimidated by allegations that she regards as politically motivated. Sara Duterte’s confidence indicates a determination to persist in her duties despite the surrounding controversies.

The Vice President also shared her views on the broader implications of political dynamics in the Philippines. She noted how such actions often create an atmosphere of fear amongst public officials. There is a concern that these tactics might discourage individuals from pursuing public service roles.

Duterte’s statements reflect her perspective on the intersection of politics and personal attacks. She indicates that while she is prepared for scrutiny, the allegations against her family cross a line into unacceptable behavior.
