EJ Obiena fulfills lifelong dream with global pole vault event in PH

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena announced the organization of an international pole vault competition to be held in the Philippines from September 20 to 21, 2025. The event will take place at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati.

Obiena shared details during an online press conference on Monday. He stated that the event will feature elite pole vaulters from various countries and will be staged in cooperation with local government units and national sports organizations.

The venue, Ayala Triangle Gardens, is set to host the two-day event, which is expected to attract both local and international spectators.

Organizers indicated that the competition aims to raise the visibility of pole vaulting in the Philippines and provide opportunities for local athletes to observe and engage with international-level competitors.

Obiena has been involved in the event’s planning despite ongoing back issues. He noted the logistical and physical challenges leading up to the announcement but confirmed that preparations are underway.
