Governor Greg Abbott declared a state disaster following severe flooding in Kerrville, Texas, which has resulted in at least 24 deaths and over 20 people missing—many from a children’s camp.

Heavy rains caused rapid rises in the Guadalupe River, catching residents off-guard.

Search and rescue efforts are underway along a 30-mile stretch of the river, with helicopters, boats, and emergency personnel deployed.

The disaster declaration covers 15 counties, enabling state resources to support affected communities.

Authorities continue round-the-clock operations despite challenges from high water levels, while keeping families informed.

Residents are urged to stay indoors and heed emergency warnings as the state focuses on rescue, recovery, and preventing further harm.

Governor Abbott pledged full support and resources to address this tragic event and help communities recover.
