President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has completed drafting his third State of the Nation Address (SONA), but continues to revise and polish sections of the speech, according to House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez. The update comes just two days before the President’s annual address to Congress.

“Alam ko tapos na yung speech niya pero perfectionist siya kaya nire-revise niya,” Romualdez shared with reporters on Saturday.

He explained that while the speech is essentially complete, Marcos Jr. is analyzing data and incorporating last-minute inputs to ensure its perfection. “Sigurado inaanalyze niya yung mga data atsaka may mga input pa sigurong pumapasok pero alam ko in principle tapos na pero nirerevise niya at pina-polish niya na lang yun,” he added. Romualdez did not disclose which topics would be highlighted in his cousin’s third SONA.

“Wala akong details diyan but I’m sure it will be an excellent one,” the Speaker stated. “I’m very very excited to listen to the SONA.”

By law, the President is mandated to deliver an annual report to Congress every fourth Monday of July.

Analysts anticipate that Marcos Jr. will emphasize the Philippines’ strong economic position in the region and assert the nation’s rights to its exclusive economic zone amidst China’s persistent incursions in the West Philippine Sea. Additionally, there is an expectation that the President will address issues such as inflation and offshore gaming operations during his speech on July 22.
