SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio International Airport is preparing for a busy travel period this week as passenger numbers are expected to reach up to 20,000 per day due to holiday events and vacations.
Airport officials are advising travelers to arrive early—at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures—to help manage security screening and check-in procedures.
Parking is expected to be limited, and travelers are urged to reserve spaces in advance or arrange alternative transportation. New parking areas operated by Metropolis are now available to help accommodate more vehicles.
All Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints will open daily at 3:30 a.m. to help manage early departures. Passengers are encouraged to review TSA guidelines on what can be brought through security to avoid delays.
Airlines at the airport are also asking passengers to confirm flight details ahead of time and to check boarding times printed on tickets. Early arrival at gates is strongly recommended.
To help with the expected traveler volume, the airport has coordinated with local transportation providers to ensure the availability of shuttles, taxis, and ride-share options.
The airport’s website provides updated travel tips, security information, and flight updates to assist passengers in planning their trips.
Travelers are also encouraged to use airport amenities such as free Wi-Fi, food options, and shops while waiting for their flights.
Airport authorities continue working with the TSA and airlines to provide a safe and smooth experience for all passengers during the holiday travel season.
