Vico Sotto sworn in for last term, rules out 2028 political run

PASIG CITY — Mayor Vico Sotto officially began his third and final term on Monday, June 30, 2023, after taking his oath of office before local officials and supporters in Pasig City.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Sotto reaffirmed his decision not to seek any national position in the 2028 elections.

He emphasized that his focus remains on fulfilling his responsibilities as mayor and completing his final three-year term under the city’s term limit rules.

Sotto, first elected in 2019, has earned recognition for prioritizing transparency, anti-corruption reforms, and improvements to public services in Pasig. His leadership has included efforts to enhance infrastructure, healthcare, education, and civic engagement.

In his speech, Sotto addressed persistent speculation about a possible national candidacy, stating that his commitment remains with Pasig City and its residents. He has consistently stated in public appearances that his priority is effective local governance.
