HOUSTON, Texas– Texas bills concerning religion in public schools are awaiting Governor Greg Abbott’s signature as the deadline approaches this Sunday.

Senate Bill 10 proposes the mandatory display of the Ten Commandments in all public school classrooms in Texas.

Senate Bill 11 aims to permit periods designated for prayer or Bible reading in public and charter schools.

Legal experts anticipate both bills could encounter challenges related to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause.
