Alas Pilipinas is preparing for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand this December, following its silver medal achievement at the 2024 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Challenge Cup.

The team reached the AVC finals for the first time in 64 years but was defeated by Vietnam with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 in the final held in Hanoi on Saturday.

The national team, coached by Jorge Souza De Brito and captained by Jia De Guzman, is working toward ending the Philippines’ 20-year medal drought in SEA Games women’s volleyball. The last podium finish came in 2005.

As part of its preparation, Alas Pilipinas is undergoing training focused on physical conditioning and tactical execution. The coaching staff is also emphasizing mental resilience ahead of the regional tournament.

The team is expected to participate in international friendlies in the lead-up to the SEA Games. The Philippine volleyball community continues to follow the team’s progress, with attention now turning to its performance in December.
