SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police are investigating a shooting that occurred outside Smitty’s Pub in the Medical Center area early Sunday morning, leaving one man injured.

The incident took place just before 2 a.m. near Gardendale Road and Datapoint Drive, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). Officers responded promptly after receiving reports of gunfire following a bar fight.

Authorities said a man in his 20s was shot in the buttocks during the altercation. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police said the suspected shooter fled the scene in a vehicle. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to identify and locate the suspect.

Several residents in the area reported hearing gunshots and described a chaotic scene outside the pub, with patrons rushing for safety. Smitty’s Pub, which was open at the time of the shooting, has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.

SAPD is urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect to contact their homicide unit or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing. In response to recent incidents, SAPD says it is increasing patrols and working with the community to strengthen safety measures and reduce violence near local entertainment venues.
