At least 51 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip while waiting for aid trucks, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry and local medical sources.
The incident took place in Khan Younis, a southern city in Gaza. Witnesses reported that an airstrike hit a nearby house, followed by gunfire directed at people gathered to receive aid.
The victims were waiting for United Nations and commercial trucks carrying food supplies to enter the area. Palestinian witnesses told The Associated Press that the airstrike and shooting targeted individuals near a truck that had become stuck in Khan Younis.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that over 200 people were injured during the incident.
The Israeli military acknowledged that soldiers observed a crowd near the aid truck but did not provide confirmation regarding the nature of the attack.
Authorities and international bodies are monitoring the situation closely while emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts to protect civilians and ensure aid delivery in accordance with international law.
