Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire captured the vacant WBA interim bantamweight title on Sunday after defeating Andres Campos at Casino Buenos Aires in Argentina.

The 42-year-old four-division world champion secured the victory via technical decision in the ninth round after sustaining a cut near his right eye. The fight was stopped due to the injury, prompting the technical ruling in Donaire’s favor.

This win marks the 43rd professional victory of Donaire’s career and his first fight following a two-year hiatus from the sport. He showed glimpses of his former skill and resilience during the bout.
