MANILA, Philippines — Filipino singer and actor Ice Seguerra has launched a new stage play titled Choosing, which explores themes of queer love, identity, and personal transformation.
The play opened on June 6 and runs through June 15 at the Doreen Black Box Theater at Ateneo de Manila University.
Seguerra stars in the production alongside his real-life partner, Liza Diño. The couple portrays characters navigating emotional journeys of self-discovery and acceptance, reflecting both personal experiences and broader societal themes.
Co-written by Seguerra, Choosing centers on the relationship between a trans man and a cisgender woman. The narrative explores love, doubt, change, and the process of embracing one’s true self.
According to Seguerra, the play seeks to provide visibility and representation for individuals who often feel unseen in mainstream media.
“Our goal is to empower people by addressing questions that are often avoided,” Seguerra said in a statement. The production integrates personal anecdotes with social commentary, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community.
