Director Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick, is developing a new Formula One film starring Brad Pitt, drawing inspiration from the popular Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive.

The project aims to bring the intense world of competitive racing to the big screen, blending cinematic action with authentic motorsport storytelling.

Kosinski said the concept of teammates acting as both partners and rivals in Formula One presents a compelling dynamic ideal for drama.

He credited Drive to Survive with introducing him to the sport’s emotional stakes and behind-the-scenes rivalries, which he believes translate naturally to film.

The production will incorporate immersive filming techniques to replicate the adrenaline of Formula One, similar to how Top Gun: Maverick captured the intensity of aerial combat.

Kosinski’s team is collaborating closely with Formula One teams and industry insiders to ensure realism in both the racing sequences and the sport’s culture.

Brad Pitt will lead the cast in the yet-untitled film, which seeks to portray the personal and professional challenges faced by drivers in one of the world’s most competitive sports.

Kosinski described the film as a “cinematic event,” aiming to appeal to both longtime motorsports fans and new audiences.
