DALLAS, Texas– Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph Jr., 25, is facing criminal charges after a fatal crash early Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 75 near Richardson that killed a female motorcyclist, according to the Plano Police Department.

Police said the collision occurred on the North Central Expressway, where Joseph, driving a BMW, struck a motorcycle. The woman riding the motorcycle died at the scene. Authorities have not released her identity pending notification to her family.

Following the crash, Joseph reportedly left the scene but later contacted authorities to report his involvement. Plano Police took him into custody and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and a collision involving personal injury or death, a felony offense.

Investigators have not disclosed Joseph’s blood alcohol content at the time of the crash, but the DWI charge indicates he was allegedly under the influence.

Joseph played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2021 to 2023 and has not signed with another NFL team since leaving the organization. The Cowboys have not commented on the charges.

Authorities said Joseph’s legal proceedings are underway and that he is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks. His attorney has not issued a public statement.

The victim’s family is reportedly planning a memorial, and community members are mourning her loss. Police emphasized the importance of road safety and urged drivers to avoid impaired driving.

Additional information will be released as the investigation develops.
