DALLAS, Texas — The Tarrant County Commissioners Court approved a new redistricting map on June 3, with the vote passing along party lines.

The Republican-majority court voted in favor of Map 7, which will reshape the district boundaries in the county.

The approval followed a public meeting where over 250 individuals provided input on the proposed redistricting plan. Map 7 emerged as the preferred option from several alternatives presented to the commissioners.

Following the approval, Republican Representative Tony Tinderholt announced his candidacy for a commissioner seat, a move seen as an effort to strengthen Republican influence on the court.
