China has accused the United States of violating a tariff truce amid escalating tensions in the ongoing trade war between the two countries.
This claim follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent allegations that China breached a trade agreement signed on May 12.
Last week, President Trump stated that China failed to meet its commitments under the trade deal, which was intended to halt further tariff increases and stabilize economic relations.
Chinese officials, including foreign ministry spokesperson Lu Kang, criticized the U.S. for imposing tariffs that contradict the terms of the agreement.
Beijing urged Washington to adhere to previously negotiated commitments and emphasized its preference for resolving disputes through dialogue.
The U.S. government maintains that its actions respond to China’s alleged non-compliance, citing concerns over subsidies, intellectual property issues, and market distortions.
The Trump administration has insisted on enforcing rules it views as necessary for fair trade.
