Japanese coach Taka Minowa has ended his three-year stint with Akari’s volleyball teams in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in Manila, Philippines.

Minowa announced his departure from the country’s only professional volleyball league after leading the Chargers to notable finishes, including a finals appearance in the Reinforced Conference and a bronze medal in the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference.

Minowa’s exit marks the conclusion of his role with the Akari franchise, which he joined in 2022. Under his leadership, the team achieved its most successful runs in recent seasons.

On May 12, 2023, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported the appointment of Tina Salak as the new head coach. Salak will take over as Akari prepares for upcoming PVL competitions.

Minowa will now reunite with his wife, Jaja Santiago, who is pursuing a historic goal to become the first Filipino volleyball player to compete in an overseas professional league.
