DALLAS, Texas– Dallas police have launched an investigation into an incident at a local funeral home after a woman allegedly removed a wig from a deceased individual on May 22.
According to an affidavit filed with the Dallas Police Department, the suspect, identified as Tonya Boyd, entered the facility’s preparation room, where she allegedly took the wig from the head of a deceased woman. The funeral director reported seeing Boyd in the restricted area and immediately contacted authorities.
Officers responded to the funeral home to collect statements and examine potential evidence. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to determine how Boyd accessed the room and whether anyone else participated in the alleged theft.
Officials have not identified a motive and have not disclosed any relationship between Boyd and the deceased. Access to preparation rooms is typically limited to authorized personnel, raising questions about how the suspect entered the area.
Funeral home staff are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The establishment, whose name has not been released, is reviewing its security procedures to prevent similar incidents.
As of now, authorities have not filed formal charges against Boyd. Police continue to investigate and will decide on any legal action based on their findings.
