Fort Bend County, TX – A 31-year-old man from Fort Bend County has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after allegedly beating his wife’s teacup Pomeranian to death. The incident occurred on Friday evening at the couple’s home near Richmond.

Pengfei Ji was taken into custody and is facing a third-degree felony charge of animal cruelty. According to the Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Ji accused his wife of loving the dog more than him, leading to the violent act.

Surveillance cameras at their residence in the Candela neighborhood on Splendid Sunset Trail allegedly captured the horrific event. The footage reportedly shows Ji grabbing the dog by its rear legs, swinging it over his head, and repeatedly slamming it into a dog house. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

The couple rushed the severely injured dog to a vet clinic in Cinco Ranch, but the Pomeranian was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Constables who responded to the scene viewed the surveillance video on Ji’s wife’s phone, but Ji subsequently deleted the footage. Authorities are considering additional charges of evidence tampering against Ji.

A deputy who reviewed the footage remarked in his report that it was a video he never wishes to see again.
