New York, NY — In a significant editorial on Friday, The New York Times called for President Joe Biden to step aside and allow another Democrat to challenge Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

The influential newspaper’s editorial board, which operates independently from its newsroom, described Biden as “the shadow of a great public servant.” The editorial stated that Thursday’s debate between President Biden and Trump demonstrated that the 81-year-old president “failed his own test.”

Labeling Biden’s decision to seek re-election as a “reckless gamble,” the editorial emphasized, “the greatest public service Mr. Biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.”

This call from The New York Times highlights the growing concerns within the Democratic Party and among its supporters about Biden’s viability as a candidate in the next election, urging a fresh face to take on the challenge against Trump.
