St. Paul’s University awards honorary doctorate to Charo Santos

MANILA, Philippines St. Paul University Manila awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities Honoris Causa degree to Charo Santos-Concio on Friday, May 30, during a ceremony held at the university’s campus.

The university recognized Santos-Concio, former president and CEO of ABS-CBN, for her leadership in Philippine media and communications. She became the first alumna of the institution to receive the honorary degree.

University officials cited her pioneering work in the media industry, particularly her contributions to value-based storytelling in Philippine cinema and television. The certificate presented to Santos-Concio highlighted her role in promoting Christ-centeredness, charity, integrity, humility, and excellence—values central to the university’s mission.

Santos-Concio served as ABS-CBN’s president from 2008 to 2015 and CEO until 2016, becoming one of the most influential figures in the country’s media landscape.
