MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit luxury goods worth over PHP 120 million in coordinated raids earlier this month in Manila and Parañaque, officials confirmed.
Agents from the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division led the operation, targeting several stalls in Binondo, Manila, and a commercial building in Parañaque.
The raids resulted in the confiscation of 1,002 counterfeit luxury items allegedly bearing the trademarks of well-known international brands.
Authorities obtained search warrants from judicial authorities before carrying out the raids and coordinated with local law enforcement during the enforcement actions.
The NBI stated that the operation was part of its continued efforts to combat the sale and distribution of fake goods and to uphold intellectual property rights in the country.
No arrests were reported during the operation. Investigators are continuing to trace the sources of the counterfeit merchandise.
The NBI urged the public to report similar illegal activities and emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual property to ensure fair business practices and consumer protection.
