A 24-year-old Mexican national was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison on March 11, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Audivier Martinez-Gomez was arrested on June 18, 2024, during a routine traffic stop when authorities discovered 29.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine hidden in the auxiliary tank of his truck.

The substance, extracted from the tank, tested positive for methamphetamine.

The arrest was part of a broader operation led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to combat drug trafficking in Texas. The DEA, working with local law enforcement agencies, conducted the investigation that led to Martinez-Gomez’s capture.

Martinez-Gomez admitted guilt to the charges, and his sentencing is a part of ongoing efforts to dismantle methamphetamine distribution networks in the region. The 135-month sentence reflects the severity of the offense and the federal government’s approach to drug trafficking.

Law enforcement continues to address drug trafficking through coordinated efforts, and authorities urge the public to report suspicious activity related to illegal drug trade.
