LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Manny Pacquiao will return to the boxing ring on July 19 to face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.

The bout marks Pacquiao’s first fight since retiring from the sport four years ago following a loss to Yordenis Ugas.

Pacquiao, 46, is stepping back into the welterweight division against Barrios, who is 30 years old and holds a four-inch height advantage over the former eight-division world champion.

Barrios will defend his title against Pacquiao in what is expected to be a high-profile event.

Former rival Juan Manuel Marquez warned against underestimating Pacquiao, citing the Filipino boxer’s experience and technical ability as key factors.

Despite being seen as the underdog, Pacquiao’s record and determination have kept expectations high among fans and analysts.

Pacquiao last fought in August 2021, losing to Ugas by unanimous decision. His decision to return to professional boxing adds another chapter to a career that has made him one of the sport’s most decorated fighters.

Barrios acknowledged Pacquiao’s impact on boxing and expressed respect for his opponent’s accomplishments. Both fighters have begun intensive preparations for the upcoming match.
