Chris Brown detained in UK over alleged nightclub assault

Grammy-winning R&B artist Chris Brown has been taken into custody and charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged assault at a nightclub in London in 2023.

The 36-year-old singer, known for hits such as “Under the Influence,” was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Authorities allege that Brown struck music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle during an incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair. The alleged victim reportedly sustained serious injuries.

Brown appeared in court and confirmed his name and address. The case has been transferred to Southwark Crown Court, with the next hearing scheduled for June 13.

Prior to his arrest, Brown was on tour with scheduled performances in Amsterdam and Germany, followed by multiple concert dates across the United Kingdom.
