MANILA, Philippines — National University (NU) defeated Far Eastern University (FEU) in straight sets to win the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball championship on Saturday, May 17, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, in front of 14,517 spectators.

NU secured the title after a 25-16, 28-26, 25-23 victory in Game 3 of the finals, extending their championship streak to five consecutive seasons. The win denied FEU a chance to break NU’s dominant run in UAAP men’s volleyball.

FEU rookie Mikko Espartero remained positive despite the loss. He scored two points from 10 attack attempts and contributed 12 receptions during the match. Espartero acknowledged the learning experience and expressed optimism about his future performance.

Both teams entered the decisive Game 3 after a competitive season that saw FEU return to the finals. FEU aimed to end NU’s reign but fell short in their bid for the title.

NU’s victory concluded the men’s volleyball season and underscored their continued dominance in the league. The championship match drew a record crowd and highlighted standout performances from players on both sides.

The UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball finals concluded with National University as champions and Far Eastern University as runners-up.
