Tom Cruise premiered Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning at the Cannes Film Festival in France on May 14.

The film, which cost about $400 million to produce, was screened for the first time and received a positive response.

Critics praised the movie, with The Guardian giving it a five-star review and calling Cruise a “superhuman action hero.” The Hollywood Reporter described the action scenes as “astonishing,” “jaw-dropping,” and “just insane.”

Cruise, known for performing his own stunts, attended the festival after previously appearing there in 2022. The film features his character, Ethan Hunt, facing off against an artificial intelligence threat.

Director Christopher McQuarrie said he was pleased with the audience’s reaction. The movie is set to be released in theaters on May 23.
