HOUSTON, Texas– Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones presented a resolution declaring May as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month during a Commissioners Court session on May 8.
The resolution acknowledges the cultural contributions and history of the AANHPI community in the county. Commissioner Briones noted the presence of more than 100,000 AANHPI residents in Precinct 4.


Attorney Aileen Ligot Dizon, State President of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas, accepted the resolution on behalf of Filipino Americans and the Chamber. She was joined by Patsy Yoon Brown of the Japan-America Society of Houston and Mai Le of the Korean American Society of Houston.
Speakers addressed the community’s contributions and challenges. The resolution affirmed the county’s commitment to inclusion and equity.
County officials stated the resolution supports ongoing efforts to engage and represent all communities.
