HOUSTON, Texas– Texas lawmakers have introduced Senate Bill 11, a proposal that would allow trustee boards of public school districts and charter school governing bodies to approve voluntary prayer meetings and Bible readings within schools.

The bill, which aims to facilitate religious activities in educational settings, would give schools the option to organize these activities on a voluntary basis.

The Texas legislature is set to continue debating the bill, weighing its potential benefits for religious expression against concerns about its alignment with constitutional protections.

A public hearing on the bill will take place in the coming weeks, offering community members a chance to voice their opinions on the proposed legislation.
