AUSTIN, Texas — Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported a family of five from Austin after a traffic stop, despite two of the children being U.S. citizens.
The family, consisting of Denisse Parra Vargas, 37, and her three children, aged 9, 5, and 4, was detained by immigration authorities following the incident.
The two youngest children, aged 5 and 4, were both born in the United States.
The family was deported to Mexico, though the legal team argues that the deportation violated the constitutional rights of the U.S. citizen children.
ICE has yet to release a statement on the specific circumstances surrounding the deportation. Legal experts point out that deporting U.S. citizens, especially minors, is a violation of their rights.
