HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas State Senate Criminal Justice Committee on Tuesday unanimously approved House Bill 2000, known as “Audrii’s Law,” which seeks to close a legal loophole that allows certain sex offenders to avoid detection.
The bill, designed to prevent violent crimes, now advances to a full Senate vote. The proposed legislation aims to enhance public safety by ensuring more thorough monitoring and accountability of sex offenders.
Named in honor of a victim, Audrii’s Law seeks to reinforce legal measures and protect communities across Texas. If passed by the Senate, the bill will move forward in the legislative process for further consideration and potential enactment.
