MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines has removed Venus Divina Nietes, the principal of Col. Ruperto Abellon National School in Laua-an, Antique, following a dispute over graduation attire.
The decision was announced by Claire Castro, an official from the Palace Press Office, during a briefing at Malacañang on Friday.
This move follows a directive issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara swiftly acting on the President’s order.
DepEd continues to enforce guidelines on school ceremonies, with the removal of the principal addressing concerns over the situation and maintaining proper conduct in the education system.
While a replacement for Nietes has not yet been announced, the incident highlights the government’s proactive approach to resolving educational issues and ensuring the continued delivery of quality education across the country.
