NBA to announce Rookie of the Year Finalists on Sunday; Austin Spurs players honored by G League

HOUSTON, Texas– The NBA plans to announce the finalists for the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year award on April 20.

The announcement will cover the top-performing rookies from the season. Stephon Castle, a player from the San Antonio Spurs, is considered a strong contender for the title. The finalists will be revealed by the NBA through official channels.

In other basketball news, members of the Austin Spurs have received recognition from the NBA G League. Malachi Flynn, a guard for the Austin Spurs, has been named to the 2024-25 All-NBA G League First Team.

Flynn participated in 38 games with Austin during the season, including both the Tip-Off Tournament and regular-season games. 

The Austin Spurs, based in Cedar Park, Texas, function as the G League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.

The NBA G League named the Austin Spurs as the recipient of two business awards for the 2023-24 season. The team earned the NBA G League Retailer of the Year award and the NBA G League Marketing Award.
