Boxing legend Donnie Nietes impresses in comeback win

MANILA, Philippines– Donnie “Ahas” Nietes made a triumphant return to the boxing ring on Thursday, April 10, following a nearly three-year hiatus.

The former four-division world champion secured a dominant victory against the younger Miller Alapormina during their non-title bout at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque City.

Nietes, aged 42, improved his professional record to 44 wins, including 23 knockouts, with only two losses and six draws.

In contrast, Alapormina’s record fell to six wins, five losses, and two draws, with four of his wins by knockout.

The judges, Elmo Colomia, Antonio Comia, and Jojo Llanera, unanimously scored the six-round contest 59-55 in favor of Nietes.

The match marked Nietes’ return to competitive boxing since 2022, driven by his determination to reclaim his status in the sport.

The fight against Alapormina adds to Nietes’ storied career as he eyes further challenges and potential title bouts in the future.

This comeback bout reaffirms Nietes’ reputation and contributes to his legacy within the boxing community.
