DALLAS, Texas – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced that an agreement has been reached with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) concerning policies on transgender student athletes.
The agreement ensures that transgender students will not participate in girls’ sports within the district.
The agreement follows an investigation initiated by Attorney General Paxton to determine whether the district was in violation of Texas state law by allowing biological males to participate in girls’ sports.
The investigation examined the district’s compliance with state regulations on gender-specific sports participation.
Paxton’s investigation focused on adherence to the Save Women’s Sports Act, which was passed in 2021. This law prohibits transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.
According to the act, students must compete on sports teams that align with the gender assigned at birth.
Attorney General Paxton expressed his commitment to upholding state laws and ensuring that all school districts in Texas adhere to these regulations.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of girls’ sports and ensuring that no district circumvents state legislation.
