The Denver Nuggets informed their three-time NBA MVP player, Nikola Jokic, about the firing of head coach Michael Malone ahead of a meeting with the team officials on Tuesday afternoon.
The organization dismissed Malone, who led the Nuggets to an NBA title in 2023.
General Manager Calvin Booth also received notification that this would be his last season with the team.
Jokic emphasized on Wednesday that he had no involvement in the decisions regarding Malone and Booth.
Josh Kroenke, vice chairman of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, directly communicated the changes to Jokic.
