Fort Worth City Council debate turns physical, candidates separated

Fort Worth, Texas—A Fort Worth City Council candidate debate ended in a physical altercation between candidates Chris Nettles and Payton Jackson.

The incident occurred at the Bethlehem Center in Fort Worth, resulting in the debate being cut short. Both candidates have filed police reports accusing each other of assault by offensive contact.

The altercation reportedly began when Payton Jackson served incumbent Councilman Chris Nettles with a lawsuit concerning her eviction. This action led to an escalation of the dispute into a physical confrontation.

The next debate is scheduled for April 14. Authorities are now evaluating measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, ensuring a secure environment for both candidates and attendees.
