JAKARTA, Indonesia– Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced on Wednesday that the country is prepared to offer temporary shelter to Palestinians impacted by the ongoing conflict in Gaza between Israeli forces and Hamas.
The United Nations reports that nearly 400,000 Gaza residents have been displaced since Israel resumed military operations last month.
President Subianto stated, “We are ready to receive wounded victims,” as he prepared for a Middle East visit that includes stops in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and Jordan.
This statement comes amid reports of Israeli strikes in Gaza resulting in the deaths of more than 400 Palestinians.
Indonesia has consistently expressed its support for Palestinian self-determination and has criticized military actions in the region.
Prabowo’s visit to the Middle East aims to discuss the crisis and seek collaborative efforts to address the humanitarian situation.
The Indonesian government has not yet specified the logistics or locations for the proposed temporary shelter for Gaza residents.
