WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lt. Gen. Dan Caine faced questioning from senators on Tuesday during his confirmation hearing for a prominent military position, following his nomination by former President Donald Trump.

A key point of discussion was an incident involving the Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat, which has become closely associated with Trump’s ideology.

Caine addressed the committee regarding stories circulated by Trump, suggesting Caine’s strong loyalty to the former president.

He clarified that he had never worn the MAGA hat, contradicting Trump’s previous accounts. Caine speculated that Trump might have been referring to someone else when recounting these stories of allegiance.

Senators focused on Caine’s ability to serve impartially in a high-ranking position, amid concerns over the politicization of military roles.

Caine emphasized his commitment to professionalism and political neutrality, asserting that he has always conducted himself in a nonpartisan manner.

Caine addressed concerns over political pressures, particularly from past administrations, and assured the committee of his dedication to serving the nation’s best interests without succumbing to partisan influence.

He emphasized that the military’s primary responsibility is to uphold the Constitution and national security.
