MANILA, Philippines– Detained founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) and senatorial candidate for the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), Apollo Quiboloy issued a statement calling for divine intervention following the arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
The statement was read by Quiboloy’s legal counsel, Kaye Laurente, during a public rally at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
Quiboloy, who is facing legal challenges of his own, has maintained a strong association with Duterte.
His support for the former president has been publicly known, and his recent statement reflects his continued backing amid the ongoing legal proceedings against Duterte.
The rally, attended by Quiboloy’s followers, was organized as a demonstration in support of both Quiboloy and Duterte.
The arrest of Duterte has drawn attention due to the investigations surrounding his presidency, particularly his war on drugs and human rights concerns.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is currently involved in investigating alleged human rights violations committed during Duterte’s administration.
