MANILA, Philippines– Filipina actress Kim Chiu was recently the subject of a misinformation campaign following false claims that she made negative remarks about former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The controversy began when a comment she made on “It’s Showtime” about deserving a break was misinterpreted and falsely linked to Duterte’s arrest.

Speculation spread on social media, with claims that Chiu had referred to Duterte in a derogatory manner, including an alleged statement that he deserved to be arrested.

Chiu addressed the situation on her social media platforms, clarifying that her comments were unrelated to Duterte.

She urged the public to verify information before sharing it, emphasizing the importance of understanding the context to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Chiu has previously faced similar issues with misleading information, where her words were taken out of context or exaggerated.

She has consistently encouraged her followers to be cautious about consuming and sharing media.
