Two immigrants with legal status in Texas have shared their experiences of being unexpectedly detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), despite their legal standing in the U.S.

The first individual, from Central America, was detained after a routine traffic stop.

They were held for several days until their legal status was confirmed, and then released.

The second individual, from Southeast Asia, was detained after a misunderstanding during an employment verification process. This person, also with legal status, was later released once their status was verified.

Immigration advocates are calling for reforms to protect individuals with legal status from being detained without cause.
