Houston-based musician Ben Chavez is set to debut his live concept album, Last Day, County Fair, inspired by the queer experience.

Slated for March 6th and 7th at the Cullen Theater, the performance is part of Performing Arts Houston’s New/Now series and promises a blend of original music and storytelling, exploring themes of identity and familial relationships.

Chavez, originally from New Jersey, moved to Houston following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, after meeting his future husband during a visit.

Last Day, County Fair is a deeply personal project for Chavez. The album explores themes of queer identity and the complex relationships with parents, drawing from Chavez’s own experiences.

As part of Performing Arts Houston’s New/Now series, the performance of Last Day, County Fair promises to be a defining moment in Chavez’s career and an unforgettable experience for those attending.

The debut represents a new chapter for Chavez, marking his creative “Golden Era” in Houston’s artistic community.
