AUSTIN, Texas — The owners of Shield Ranch, a 6,600-acre property located outside of Austin, have finalized an agreement with the city to prevent the land from being developed.

This deal ensures that the ranch’s natural landscape and ecosystem will be preserved for future generations.

The agreement comes amid rapid urban growth in Austin, where development pressures have raised concerns among conservationists and residents.

Shield Ranch, known for its diverse topography and rich flora and fauna, will now be protected through a conservation easement, a legal tool that ensures the land remains untouched by commercial and residential projects.

The city of Austin, aligned with its broader sustainability goals, supports this partnership as part of a strategy to balance urban growth with environmental protection.
