DALLAS, Texas– The Texas Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the state’s bar association against Attorney General Ken Paxton.

The lawsuit stemmed from Paxton’s challenge of the 2020 presidential election results, with the state bar seeking sanctions ranging from a private reprimand to disbarment.

The state bar filed the lawsuit, claiming that Paxton’s actions to overturn the 2020 election results constituted professional misconduct.

The lawsuit aimed to hold public officials accountable for actions perceived as undermining democratic processes.

The Texas Supreme Court’s ruling effectively terminates the pursuit of disciplinary action against Paxton.

Paxton’s challenge to the election results formed part of a broader effort by several state officials across the country to question the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.
