Bexar County deputy, 24, dies after battle with terminal leukemia

David Santos, a 24-year-old deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, passed away after an eight-month battle with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Santos was diagnosed with the illness in June 2024 and ultimately succumbed to it. His passing was announced through a Facebook post by those close to him.

Santos began his law enforcement career with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, where he was recognized for his dedication to his role and his commitment to the community.

Upon learning of Santos’ diagnosis, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office organized efforts to support him and his family during his illness. 

After his passing, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, along with the community, expressed condolences and paid tribute to his service.

The department has announced plans to hold a memorial service to honor his life and contributions.
