MANILA, Philippines– Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena participated in the ISTAF Indoor meet at the PSD Bank Dome in Germany on Sunday night, where he finished in seventh place.

Obiena cleared a height of 5.55 meters on his first attempt, which initially placed him in a competitive position.

However, he was unable to clear the 5.75-meter mark, which would have improved his ranking. As a result, he ended the event in seventh place.

The competition attracted attention as Obiena has been a consistent performer in international pole vaulting.

His past successes have set high expectations, and the pressure to maintain these achievements is a part of his ongoing efforts in the sport. The event featured top-tier athletes, all aiming for victory, and showcased the level of competition Obiena faces on the global stage.

Obiena’s experience, including his appearances at two Olympic Games, has provided him with valuable insights that he continues to apply to future events.

Although Obiena’s performance at the ISTAF Indoor meet did not mirror his recent successes, it contributes to his growth as an athlete.

The ISTAF Indoor meet is one of many competitions in which athletes accumulate points to improve their rankings and qualify for prestigious events. Obiena’s performance, while not ideal, remains an important part of his ongoing career as he prepares for upcoming challenges in the pole vaulting world.
